The W Hotel  is taking huge strides toward creating a socially and environmentally progressive agenda to inspire its visitors.  The Beverly Hills location hosts events centered around four pillars, fashion, fuel, design, and music.

We attended a Sustainability event which featured a fashion pop-up shop from Venia Collection and non-profit organization Save the Rain. Then concluded the night with a short panel discussion about incorporating sustainable practices into our everyday business culture.

Venia was founded in 2014 by Christine and Keeter in downtown Los Angeles.  Venia, meaning elegance and beauty through manner, motion, or action, was created to bridge the gap between their inspirations, stories, and beliefs.  Venia didn’t start as being sustainable, although after learning how the rising temperatures are affecting the glaciers while visiting Canada in 2016, Christine and Keeter made a conscious decision to decrease their carbon footprint. Now, they are very meticulous about ensuring each vendor uses recyclable materials and non-toxic chemicals during production.  They have knowledge of where their fabric comes from and can tell consumers every detail about the garment origin.  The transition to a sustainable business structure decreased production cost, is humanely ethical and carbon-neutral.

“Everyday girls in Tanzania spend 200 million hours walking for water.”

Save the Rain is an organization providing clean water and education to sustain food supply in Tanzania since 2005.  The organization also teaches women how to harvest the rain, sustainable agricultural practices, and long term effects of deforestation .

“Every 15 seconds a child dies from lack of access to clean water.”

If you want to donate to Save the Rain, there are three ways you can help. Register through Amazon and make donations by choosing Save the Rain as your charity of choice, or register for Ralphs grocery stores community giving program to turn a percentage of what you purchased into non-profit donations, or download charitable app RoundUP and select Save the Rain.  Through a social enterprise called Schwari in Tanzania,  locals create unique pieces of tribal artistry which is then sold in America to provide clean water and community services.  We are able to see and feel these pieces during the event.

Experiencing this event at the W Hotel exposed us to a community of entrepreneurs passionate about positively contributing to a recyclable future within the Fashion Industry. The W Hotel is the perfect platform to bring these necessary causes to the most influential people! Check the W Hotel Beverly Hills calendar for the next impactful event.
